wow, all this time I couldn't even log in because, you know, I was formerly on Filet Mignon, and now I am on the SOYBEAN cluster. I mean, OUCH. I'm in some pain now, lady.

Quiet weekend over here... we had an early sort of dinner then came home and goofed off a while, entertained a few guests quickly while I did some photoshopping, although techinically I use the Gimp b/c old habits are still there. Anyway, then we picked up DM and went to Constantine, and who should we see but Fritz and Girl. Heh. We threw popcorn at asshats till the previews started, and they were all of silly movies which I'm desperately craving. Specifically SW3 and HHGttG. The movie itself was, well, incredibly silly and a little too horrific for my taste, but Keanu was Decent enough, and Tilda was as usual amazing. The director was balls crazy though.

Anyway I was falling asleep on the drive home. We woke up before noon Saturday and went to the Library Cafe, which is really cute and nice and cozy and has lots of old books for sale. And then I did some more gimp work, obviously. We went to the grocery store and I made stir-fry and then read lots of Pratchett. I had an odd dream partly about Vetinari, but it ended up just being a total Buffy dream mixed with The Village. Not that I've seen it but you know. Anyway it was all made up and I was mad, but Xander reassured me with his tongue and breast-massaging skillz. Which is strange as I didn't find his character hot at all in the recent years.

Made French Toast and sausage, today. I am so fucking domestic that you can't stand it.

I got these shoes shipped last night.

We watched Ali G: In Da House last night. I enjoyed it a lot more than the Ali G segments of the show, mainly because it wasn't him being an idiot in front of real people, just other actors who were also just playing.

I drank the rest of my vodka last night. Reg laughed at my non-mixology skillz, but I don't care, everything tastes better in martini glasses. Anyway there's officially no more liquor, beer, or wine, so we're going to suck as hosts again.

Tonight I really really just want to watch Buffy but I'm sure I'm going to be forced out.
lauralh: (something wicked this way comes)
I hate "alt-country" and I hate Bob Dylan, well, not really, but this cover of Nobody 'Cept You is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard.

Reg and I finally got our music sharing to fucking work on our home computers, yay. We have a lot of it in common already actually, but even so I'm sure it's over 80GB. Wonderfully ridiculous.

The Killers' April 24th show is already sold out. Sometimes I hate this town.

Last night was pretty low-key, I watched a couple eps of Buffy with Reg and then surfed a little web till he felt like going to get [livejournal.com profile] sarahbliss's dresser. This was a huge comedy, as Reg wasn't up for driving and my car's trunk is like a really hot virgin's ass- small entrance, lots of room inside. Anyway we thought about taking apart the dresser, then suddenly it just... started to come apart. By suddenly i of course mean, after it was dropped. So it came apart and fit in the car and we drove home.

First we stopped at the grocery store where we overspent on organic dairy, but I think it'll be worth it. It's not really that much more expensive, and so far the organic produce has been worth it for sure. I am not a huge milk fan but Reg is, so he will let me know, I'm sure. For dinner we had frozen chicken nuggets that were actually kind of gross, but ranch dressing helped.

I'm starting to want to write again, and as soon as my back stops killing me when I get on my 'puter at home, I think I will. It's probably just the monitor being too low, anyway.
lauralh: (drinky rum)
Reg finally gave me my V-day present, a gift box of Dolce & Gabanna perfumed creams and gel and stuff. I smell really nice now. In return I made him a roast with yorkshire puddings and wow I did well my son. Of course I ate so much fat that I got a little ill after dinner.

I hurt my back somehow, I suspect from bad posture and bad sleep-ture. I then dreamed someone was chasing me, either to kill me or turn me in to people who would kill me. He looked like the guy who killed Swayze in Ghost, actually, prospect-place-willy. He chased me through a safeway all the way to someone's huge gorgeous malibu-style beachhouse.

Anyway I forced Reg to try to massage my back for a bit, but he has no upper body stamina and so I had to fantasize about that ugly nurse in Zoolander totally deep-tissue-massaging me. I took an ACC and it's helping a little.

I finally copied all my mp3s that I'd been cultivating for the past six months from blogville, and am trying to Soulseek the entire albums. It's a long and thankless task, but I'm getting some goddamned great music out of it.

I am at home!
Whee!

I re-read the entire Invisibles series, which is a lot easier once you realize that a) GM is completely fucking insane b) so treat it like the God bullshit in Narnia or something. I mean, once you treat the underlying "conspiracy theories" as a given, like pretending Jesus is real, the story follows a lot better. Oddly enough this also prevented any sleep-anxiety that usually results in ultra-violent "people killing people" kinds of stories. Good to know, I guess.

Started, finally, Season 2 of the Office. Tim is less depressing but David is moreso. Oh, man.

Friday night Reg picked me up right after work and we went to Ray's Boathouse to eat and watch the sunset. He suggested we split a bottle of wine, which was like WOAH but hey. Of course on the way home he kept saying we should buy more wine, but I think he's ok now. I fell asleep for three hours then went to Sid's with him and Ash and Cris.

Yesterday I made cupcakes and bought a cheap little computer desk thingy from Storables, as well as expensive olive oil, basalmic vinegar, and fresh-baked bread. Mmmm. Well, the desk thingy wasn't that tasty, but it's decent. We met up with Fritz & Steve and their hos, cos Fritz got his green card, and then to Pat's party. Which was shockingly dead, so we went to Russ and Summer's, which was pretty much better. Invited everyone we knew back to our place, and at 5am I fucking passed the hell out.

1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. Hell no. Not in the fucking least. Not even if we're being totally literal and saying two people have corresponded for years without seeing what each other looked like till they finally met.

2. Would you ever want to change your gender - at least for a day?
YOU MEAN SEX NOT GENDER. Yes, but only a day.

3. What drives you craziest about your partner?
When he's in spaz mode and comes to bed (not to sleep, mind) at 4am, and I get jolted awake, and he thinks this means it's ok to carry on a conversation with me.

4. Do you believe in kissing on the first date?
Yeah. But nothing much more unless it's the only first date.

5. Do you wish you had slept with more or fewer people?
Fewer, but not very strongly.

more later

laural: OK.
[watching]

laural: ... No.

I don't think there's anything sweeter than waking up late with your boy, just in time to watch the sunrise and listen to Asobi Seksu while you wait for the bus. At least, not on a workday, you know? I was giddy the whole bus ride into town, and the mountains caught the light beautifully. Maybe I will go skiing this weekend.

I've been trying to cut down on caffeine, for no other reason than that I dislike the addiction thing on principle. It's not that inconvenient or anything, just, you know. Whatever. Also I sleep badly if I have it later in the day. Anyway, I just had a soda, it took the whole thing before I felt anywhere like normal. I do not know what this means. Except that it is annoying.

Also annoying is something, I have no clue what, that gave me intestinal pain around 5am. I mean the food item. And I guess I don't need to say anything else about that.

Kicked it with [livejournal.com profile] cegan523 last night for a while. Good times. Of course almost an hour after he took off, the weekend of no sleep caught up with me and I totally passed the hell out. Reg is still antsy but half of his final projects were postponed, so that helped. Wigga.

I have run out of chocolate. I will buy more later. Trader Joe's has imported chocolate and fancy table crackers for half the price the other stores have them. It's pretty nice, I must say. I think I will also stop at a used bookstore during this errand.

Yesterday I was just miserable, I don't know why, but my whole upper back-> head hurt till Reg came over and "got rid of" my tension. Bought more sudafed but I forgot to bring it to work today. So I'm feeling really exhausted and I'm not sure if it's because of the sickness or lack of uppers. Coffee helps anyway.

I went to the doctor and their lab said I didn't have strep, but apparently it's wrong 1/10 times so they prescribed me penicillin anyway. 'Cos she took one look at my throat and said "Gah!" Honest. Guess I'm not going out tonight.

* I love this. It's probably cheaper in Panama than here to have two live-in nannies and a fulltime driver, of course, but the principle is sound.

* I've still kind of been feeling out of it since Monday, but now I think it's b/c I'm catching a cold. I am incapable of doing anything responsible unless it's during working hours; at home I just want to read and make Mix CDs. Although I did finally do laundry. The duvet cover was quite in need of it. I bought the two when I moved out, when I just had a small futon, but now I have a queen and I'm wondering if I should get a matching comforter for it?

* When I moved out of my ex's apartment about two years ago, I apparently left a bunch of my Pratchett novels there. I now cannot find Mort, Moving Pictures, Lords and Ladies, or Pyramids. So I picked up the latter two at B&N last night. I need to stop that, and just buy books used, though.

* Tuesday I went to the Atmosphere show with Reg. We first waited in line with all the high schoolers, while this skinny scraggly homeless-looking security guy yelled at people to stop cutting. No one believed him till he got his big black burly coworker after them. That was funny. And I got to feel up some blond 16-year-old in the name of "huddling for warmth." Inside I had one drink and it made me feel sick, or maybe that was the heat/smoke/incense/pot. Anyway. I fell madly in love with Slug, as he looks like a meatier version of Tim or Sid, and as soon as I have time to masturbate I'll think about him.

* Unfortunately I slept poorly with his raps flailing through my head, and as a result I think it'll be like three weeks before I can listen to any Atmosphere again. Only my Study of the Lifeless CD brought me back down.

* Last night we "fought" over dinner, because neither of us had any strong opinions about where to eat. I always have this problem when I'm either really hungry or not very hungry, but finally we settled on Mongolian BBQ. OMFG I haven't had this in years literally. The little place in the U-Dist is kind of ass, but I like that, and it was great and I want to go back tomorrow night.

I'm not really a big caffeine drinker, although I do usually have a single cuppa or Diet Pepsi per day. However, as Reg decided to come over just as I was falling asleep last night, yadda yadda yadda, I came in to work late and had a big cup of coffee. It's quite lovely how you burst out the other end of clarity when you drink that shit.

So I had to make a lot of copies yesterday, so I was busy thinking. Lots of thinking. Although it was mainly just reflection. Even though I wasn't actually thinking about my novel, the simple process of thought put me in a good mood to work on it later. Broke past 23K last night, yay. Will try to work more on that, apply for jobs, and finish my income tax tonight.

Wednesday

Got off work early, napped for a couple hours after mega-lunch at Rascha's, then Reg got here and I forced him to watch TWO episodes of Friends and one of Sex and the City. He was worried I'd force him to do something else, apparently, so he consented. We got ready and headed out around 9pm to Consolidated Works' Heaven and Hell Ball.

It was freakin' packed. I mean, not overly crowded since it's such a huge venue, but the lines for the one unisex bathroom were terrible. And the line for the full bar, as well. Splitting heaven/hell bars up, with heaven only serving clear drinks (and wine) wasn't such a brilliant idea.

We got our picture taken for the "pass" that they gave you when you got in the door (you could be good or evil) and wandered around a little. Hit the bar then the bathroom, then went to "hell" to hear Carrie Akre. We didn't want to miss the Long Winters, though, so after she sang "Invitation" (which kicked ass) we wandered to "heaven" to hear them. I barely recognized Sean Nelson in a tux without his glasses.

Best cutest swear to god part of the evening, when Jon Auer came up on stage and proposed to his redheaded cutie in front of everyone. "He looks like Tenacious D!" I exclaimed, if Jack and Kyle had a kid.

Thursday

MERRY NEW YEAR. The Decemberists rang in the new year by counting it down and spraying champagne all over the front row. Just got a little bit on my chest (was wearing the Corset) and asked Reg to lick it off for me. He complied like a good boy. (Just previous to this, he went to the bar to get some drinks, and mentioned some girls trying to hit on him. I asked if it was ok if I killed them.)

Stuck around for a while, chilled out on bean bags at the end of a slide (which backfired when Reg volunteered to catch people, one of which had stilleto heels and hit his hand, ouchie) till we were ready to head out. Went over to [livejournal.com profile] xamichee's to catch the end of his party action. People actually showed up after us, too. Keen. Stayed out past 3am.

Woke up around 1:30 or so. Ordered pizza and forced Reg to watch Fireworks. Then he forced me to go to Best Buy with him, where I picked up Zoolander and he picked up the box set of Monty Python. We watched the first two discs before I felt like Passing Out. So yeah, funny thing there, I gave him two Ativan (equivalent of two Valium) at like 11:30pm, and at 9am he was still asleep. Well, it's funnier if you know him.

damn, yall
