I am at home!
Whee!

I re-read the entire Invisibles series, which is a lot easier once you realize that a) GM is completely fucking insane b) so treat it like the God bullshit in Narnia or something. I mean, once you treat the underlying "conspiracy theories" as a given, like pretending Jesus is real, the story follows a lot better. Oddly enough this also prevented any sleep-anxiety that usually results in ultra-violent "people killing people" kinds of stories. Good to know, I guess.

Started, finally, Season 2 of the Office. Tim is less depressing but David is moreso. Oh, man.

Friday night Reg picked me up right after work and we went to Ray's Boathouse to eat and watch the sunset. He suggested we split a bottle of wine, which was like WOAH but hey. Of course on the way home he kept saying we should buy more wine, but I think he's ok now. I fell asleep for three hours then went to Sid's with him and Ash and Cris.

Yesterday I made cupcakes and bought a cheap little computer desk thingy from Storables, as well as expensive olive oil, basalmic vinegar, and fresh-baked bread. Mmmm. Well, the desk thingy wasn't that tasty, but it's decent. We met up with Fritz & Steve and their hos, cos Fritz got his green card, and then to Pat's party. Which was shockingly dead, so we went to Russ and Summer's, which was pretty much better. Invited everyone we knew back to our place, and at 5am I fucking passed the hell out.

So I'm really damned nostalgic for those halcyon days of yore when we were too stupid to know how silly "raves" and big parties in huge buildings were. Do they still do that at all?

IF NOT, then I'm going to DO IT. The one rule is that there can be no music made after 1998 played.

edit: wow, are you people dead or just joyless? at least come out and tell me I'm being weird or stupid.

Friday we had "party ADD" - hung out with jay and meeghan then over to Quent's for a while, then to EN where everyone was actually hanging out, and then Dylan invited the whole bar to his apartment. Well, not all of it, but you know. It was kind of wacky.

Next day I was awoken by the Roommate Announcement, and then we called up Steve to see if he wanted to go to dinner. We ended up at Le Pichet at 9pm, where I had funky cheese and Calvados and slightly strange cured meats and a really good salad.

Afterwards we just kind of stayed at Steve's watching On Demand Adult Swim, and Spinal Tap. Asa came by briefly. When we left, there had been a fire alarm, so the elevators weren't working. Walking down 14 floors is never fun. Anyway. We got up the next day around 3:30 or so and went down to Beth's, where the food is good and the coffee is terrible. And the service is on par with the French place. But at least you can smoke indoors, which isn't my bag but works for Reg.

And then we drove up to Best Buy, which we figured would be a nightmare but wasn't really so terrible. Sunday 5pm before Xmas, but we got in and out very quickly, as we had a mission. Aqua Teen Hunger Force vols. 2 & 3. Which we then proceeded to watch lots and lots of. Not quite all. But all of vol. 2 (except the ones we'd seen at Steve's the previous night) and the Cloning and the Clowning on vol. 3.

damn, yall

on dancing

I have a theory on dancing. I mean going to clubs or raves and dancing, not like ballroom or whatever. My theory is that the people who aren't having any fun are the ones that actually look good dancing, and vice versa.

I pretty much tend to fall in the latter category, but once in a while I try really hard to look like I know what I'm doing. I don't know if it works or not, since I don't really care all that much. I'm the kind of person who'll be the first one on the floor before a live act says "Come on, people, get out and dance!" I have no trouble doing this alone, or with one other friend or more.

However, I have serious problems dancing with boys. I suppose it goes back to high school when I'd just dance in a group of girls at school dances, and then at clubs pretty much continued this behavior. I don't really think my female friends are any better at dancing than I am, but for some reason it doesn't really bug me. I sometimes think "Oh god is she doing the Axl Rose?" but that usually only lasts a second. Whereas when even one of the group is a male, invariably he is a terrible dancer and I can't focus on anything else. This has only not been the case once, but then he was so good I still had to watch him dance. (Especially as he was fairly overweight.)

So in order to dance with men, they either have to be reasonable dancers or just doing that bump'n'grind shit. (Do the kids still call it that? I dunno. Before the 90s we called it Dirty Dancing, of course.) Or I just have to be too out of it to notice.
