(Oh and I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm kind of a hurricane addict and I haven't had a fix in 11 years.)

1) Putting things into simplistic terms is foolish and idiotic. Yes, I'm talking to you, Kanye West.
2) Blaming Bush is really dumb. People are posting articles from over 10 years ago detailing how NOLA would flood terribly.
3) The funds that were diverted in 2003 were for a 30-year-plan. Um... yeah.
4) The South is really corrupt, Louisiana is very corrupt, and New Orleans is the corruptest. There's a little concept called GRAFT. When you have a man indicted on felony racketeering charges beat a former Klansman for governor, that might could give you a hint. Graft means that no matter how much money you allocate to solving a problem, the only problem solved is the politician's marble-tiled swimming pool.
5) edit: Hurricanes are a fact of life for states that border the Gulf and even the Atlantic. I've lived through four, and the weathermen always, always say they will be worse than they end up being. So I can understand the impulses that lead people to not believe them.
