Tom Cruise in Minority Report, that is. I have to agree. On the other hand, I didn't see it because of Tom Cruise. I saw it because of Philip K. Dick.

Not sure if I liked it right now, since I had a nightmare about it, but at the time I was pretty happy with it. Of course I would have been happier had it not had a happy ending, but my god this is spielburg we're talking about, right? At least he didn't write it, though.

And it looks like he's been watching John Woo films, too. Which is kind of amusing but also kind of cool. Except that it shouldn't have been an action movie, it should have been more like Gattaca. Or maybe there just wasn't enough action to justify it. I dunno. I should read the original now, I guess, to see how badly they fucked it up.

annoying feminist rant

One of the annoying previews I saw last night was for Swimfan. It kind of looks to me like a teenage version of Fatal Attraction. Boy, did that piss me off. How come movies are never about men getting some and going all psycho stalker? Oh, I guess that never happens. Only a woman would have sex once and get totally criminally obsessive about the guy. What the fuck ever.

trying to write

I kind of love going to restaurants alone for lunch and working on my novel. I can get totally absorbed into it after just a couple of lines, oblivious to all else. I miss being in that place. Although having a life isn't that bad, it's just different. In the world of your novel you can control everything, and give people exactly what they deserve, and make them do just want you want. I'm not ambitious enough to become a dictator, so that will have to do for now.
