Saturday: Sat for about four hours in a hard-bottomed wooden chair at a BBQ, my bony ass poking at my (once-ample) cushioning until it produced bruises. The rest of the night I could only sit on very plush surfaces, and sleep only on my stomach.
Sunday: Played tennis for the first time in, oh, three years? And first real exercise of any sort since March. Right wrist and forearm ached so bad last night I could hardly lift a full glass of water. Legs don't feel great either.
Sunday: Couldn't find scissors so used a large knife to try to open a package. The knife slipped into my left wrist and ripped off a huge chunk of skin layers. I applied pressure while my housemate ran to get a bandage, and then kept applying pressure till we got someone else (with a less squeamish stomach) to wash and dress my wound. Any time there's a hint of touching near it, it hurts like a mofo.

I think that movie has always creeped me out. I must have been seven the first time I saw it, mainly being afraid of the Oompa Loompas - their song is in such a creepy minor key, and plus, you know, they look freakish. Also I was convinced all the kids were dead by the end, even after the reassurances. Willy himself didn't scare me, because, hey, it's Gene Wilder. He's so gentle in appearance, voice, and manners.

But last night it was on TV, and WOW is Wonka a psychopath. I mean it's totally understandable, he's been locked up in a candy factory with only his "personal assistant" and Oompa Loompas to talk to. Of course he's going to care more about the candy than some little bratty kids' lives. That doesn't make it normal, just understandable. Plus, the fact that it's Gentle Gene playing him makes it all the more creepy.

Despite eating an apple for breakfast, I felt a bit logy this morning. I wasn't going to drink anything but remembered I had a meeting before lunch.
So I did. Feel much better now, in a curious sort of way.

I also walked from 48th to 34th, and all about, on Saturday, for the Fremont Solstice Parade and fair. But that was all worth it. Not really that far, at least, when you go downhill. We decided that the bars in Fremont are indeed walkable if we ever want to drink too mcuh.

Friday night was again spent watching Skinemax, although I'm beginning to fear that our first indulgence was an aberration. There hasn't been a good once since that first one.

I was trying to explain to Erik what makes "good" softcore porn. Basically it has to turn you on, right? Well, what turns me on is the right amount of plot and sex. Too much plot is the equivalent of too much teasing, and not enough is the equivalent of pure voyeurism. Which is ok sometimes but you have to get to that point. I guess it's kind of like sex itself - some foreplay but not too much before the main event.

So his take was that "they need to do it like wrestling, about three minutes of plot to fifteen of action." And I said "Like a World Porn Federation?" To which he replied "WOW! Yeah!" Of course thinking about it, this is sort of what soap operas do (the real ones, not the male ones). Except backwards - fifteen or more minutes of plot and about three minutes of sex. And real softcore sex too, not even showing tits. The WPF would be hardcore of course...
