[livejournal.com profile] velvet and [livejournal.com profile] quent and I went to We Love Vinyl Friday night at TCoB. It was totally awesome but there weren't many people. Door count was apparently around a hundred, which sounds about right. Dunno why they didn't blow this up more, but what can you do. It was a weird club night/rave night without being open past 2am. I've never been there before so I didn't get what was up with that. Also the concrete floor was hellacious on your dancing feet, but I will still probably go back next Friday for the Innerflight thing.

The rest of the weekend I spent watching Buffy. Till I ran out of DVDs. O Netflix. I was then going to watch some of my own Buffy DVDs, but uh, mine are Region 2, and my latest DVD player won't play them. It's weird, the first one I bought lasted till 2000-2004, next one I bought lasted maybe 1.5 years, but they both were region-free. This one is not. You used to be able to pay people a small fee to fix that, though.

Anyway I do own S3 but the DVDs had no cases and therefore got shuffled about and I couldn't find them. Well, Reg found the first two, but that only gets us up to "Lover's Walk." Pfah, I say. Still what could I do. I watched the first disc and was like "Jesus, they really got better didn't they." I mean you gotta watch the early seasons to make sense of the later seasons, but urggggh it's so cheesy back then. The darker eps are still good, but there are tragically few darker episodes per season. Anyway, that's why I prefer Angel as a series. Well, also because I like the characters better.

i'm still torn about buffy. i really enjoy the campiness of the first few seasons, but you're right that the later ones have the heavier plotlines. but i just feel the show calls for a level of suspension of disbelief that it largely hinders because it also asks you to take it so seriously. i agree that angel did it all better, but i'm not sure it has the stand-out episodes that buffy does. hell, "cybernetic rainbows" was inspired by "hush". oh, and i hate connor. i just want to smack him until he stops holding his mouth like that! (but amy acker is high on the list of top movie/tv crushes)

BLAH BLAH. and could you tell me what tcob stands for? the church on boren? trained cats of bermuda? i'm dumb.

I hate CoB...been there 4 times and won't go again. Either weird and empty-ish or jam packed full of sweaty leather and feather burners. *shudders*

I wish I could get through Angel. I feel I've really given it a good go (a few episodes past Connor's birth) and I just can't take anymore. Firefly is really the only thing is the Whedonverse I love. Sioned is crazy for Buffy, I got her to watch the whole series last year and, well, she got a stylized "B" tat a few months ago so, pretty addicted. She can't get through Angel either.

It was totally not like that friday, as my tweets proclaimed.

I actually used to hate the Buffy character passionately but after she died she didn't piss me off as much. That's probably why I liked Angel in the first place. They used to air as a two-hour block back in the day. Although I have to admit, after Connor's birth was when I stopped watching Angel in favor of um, going out drinking and flirting with boys. But he ages to 19 and is much more fuckable interesting. Dunno what Sid's issue is with him. The actor is now in Mad Men, too.
