Michael Jackson hasn't been anything but a tasteless joke and a reason for priests to get out of bed in the morning for like, 15 years or so. The man's career died ages ago, but you didn't have a vigil then. So shut the fuck up already. You didn't celebrate the good things Reagan did when he died.

I don't know... his huge planned tour sold out, like, instantly. I get that you mean he hasn't produced more music in awhile, but anyone with that much crowd appeal can't be said to have a dead career IMO.

Yeah but Britney's tour was pretty successful too...I think a lot of people wanted to see the freak show. Michael was a freak show, everyone wanted to know what was wrong with him and why he looked like that and what he did behind closed doors. He put out one AMAZING album and a lot of songs that people laughed at after the fact (Lisa Marie video anyone?). I love the guy's music to death, but yeah...this epic tribute crap is a little over the top.

The biggest argument I've seen is that he inspired others...and I do recognize his influence on current recording artists. They were all kids when he put Thriller out.
