I hate that

when I was a teenager I kept confusing Concrete Blonde with Blondie. It was therefore a pleasant surprise in college to learn that no, Blondie was actually awesome and Concrete Blonde was not. I have recently made a similar mistake with the Arcade Fire and the Fiery Furnaces. I know now that the former is awesome, the latter is wankery.

I have that Arcade Fire album, but haven't gotten a good listen to it. It sounds like post rock mixed with some 80s goth rock. Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_Eden) is my favorite post rock album. I like wankery music too. Radiohead's OK Computer is good (minus Thom Yorke's whiny vocals). Coldplay is pretty much the same. Porcupine Tree takes the Pink Floyd sound and puts it into the modern rock context best.

I get freudian slips all the time though.
