I just avoid talking about things I don't know anything about, so I don't get corrected and sound SMRT.

tell them to lick their ass.

It depends on who is correcting me and the context of the situation.
Some people are just being asses and showing off how much they know. The sort who will say, "Um....yeah, that is so and so."

But if someone quietly pulls me aside and corrects something so I won't be embarrassed or what not...that is fine. I can handle.

i dunno, i totally don't mind people showing off what they know. I prefer to be well-informed than ignorant.

I don't mind well-informed I do mind show-offs. I think of certain people I know who correct spelling not for the sake of assisting but to make someone else look foolish.

Of course, it can also depend on *how* I'm corrected.

It depends. If I made a mistake of fact, I'm happy to own up to it and learn from it.

If I misquoted a line from a movie by a word or two and someone corrects me, my usual response is that the exact words were not the point, but the overall message was.

Then there are the people who think they're correcting you, but they're flat-out wrong. The usually get a whack upside the head with the Atilla Stick.

Of course, the attitude of the correction also matters.
