I asked Reg last night if he had any more books that weren't horribly depressing and/or involving lots of death. He was like "Why would you want to read anything with no death?" at first, but then handed me 100 Years of Solitude. It's ok so far, although the whole south american pseudo-fantasy genre is a little twee for me.

Anyway tonight I think we're going to the symphony. Supposedly it's a double date but we haven't heard any confirmation, does anyone else want to come? It's a Baroque cycle apparently, Bach or some such nonsense. You have to dress up, so if you don't have any grownup clothes you're out. Just bid here.

I understand how that works. Everyone has to sit through Handel sometime. They paired Handel with a Mahler symphony once and I sat through it. I found that the Handel's burned me out for the Mahler. I don't think I could sit through 2 Handel's and a Corelli just to get to a Bach. You're more Hardcore Baroque than I. I hope you enjoyed it all the same. It's cool that you are going at all.

the "south american pseudo-fantasy genre," otherwise known as magical realism, was one of the only redeeming graces of my still-yet-to-be-completed spanish degree.

I find magical realism too twee for me too.

OMG cute child story minute even though you hate children:

A. told his little brother that there were three kinds of books: fiction, non fiction and science fiction!
