Seattle has two alt-weeklies, because we're just so alt. You know, free papers devoted to a more liberal viewpoint than you get in the standard 25¢ papers, plus more local arts coverage and all that. Anyway, I used to read The Stranger only because they were brash and funny and more fun to read. But lately I've noticed that they care more about that than actually, you know, writing news. And also the capitol hill focus above all others is annoying. I still think their arts editors have better taste in movies and music, but the Seattle Weekly is just more interesting in the real news department. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting er jaded of irony or something. I do hate their absolute disdain of Ballard*, which is to say, pretending it doesn't exist. The Stranger may be too cool for Ballard but you know they secretly dig it.

* Ballard is the neighborhood I recently moved to, it has a lot of old people and blue collar workers and actual aged hipsters. And Stygian Triplets on skateboards.

I liked living in Ballard a lot when I did. Its quite possible I'll move back there once I get a majority of my debt paid off.

i tried that once already - moved in with my ex-fiance just three weeks after we'd met. it was ugly.

well, dylan and nicole got me so drunk on wine, fake champagne and heaven knows what else that i could hardly walk from his apartment to kincora's. and really all i wanted to do was fuck him madly, but we had to make an appearance. so we did. and then we left, fucked, i fell asleep and he went to some other party. i don;t think i even woke up when he got home.

I wanted to live in Ballard but it just wasn't great for Mr. Jenner's commute so we live in Madison Valley/Park instead which is okay.
My Great Aunt (one of the cool old people) lives in Ballard. She moved into her house in 1947. My Great-Grandparents lived in Ballard. It is a habit.

The Stranger seems a little too self-aware of its hipness sometimes and that irritates me. Plus it seems with their movie reviews that they never like anything.
