To qualify my answer re: anniversary dumping: This was a v. good thing. I wanted to break up with him, but without his manipulative bullshit, so I waited for him to "dump" me and I said, "Okay." That was the stupid hs senior year most actively dysfunctional relationship I've had (histrionics galore on his part).
Otherwise, I don't tend to get dumped all that often (the last one merely beat me to the punch; I thought I'd wait until I was all unpreggers, but...), and when I do, it's not on holidays, generally.
However, I have broken up with at least one person on a significant weekend (his b-day). We got back together for a while, then I dumped him again on Labor Day. Dumped another just before the 4th of July. And the anniversary cited in the above comment was Thanksgiving; right before Christmas he did the suicide gesture thang.
