Hi There!

I'd pronnounce it in bad Cajun French, which to me would sound like: "Bahws-ee-yay".

That's also what I'd say.

Hi There!

Waugh!!

Damn, you snuck up on me, there. What're you doing in this neck of the woods?

Well, after some reasearch, I found that we're both wrong. :(

It being in LA I'm going to guess "boss-e-ay," but I have a feeling I'm wrong.

It's pronounced Bas-ee-air in Louisiana.

I've never heard it pronounced that way.

Vermontspeak would pronounce it boss-EAR. Sort of like how the capitol of Vermont, Montpelier, is pronounced mont-PEE-lee-uhr there.

That's what you get

When northern Europeans try to pronounce French. St. Louis is like that: Creve Coeur (Fr- Crev Cur) is pronounced Creeve Core.

It's a trick question. You can't be ,b>in,/b> a map of Lousiana.

Also, being from the Northwest, I'm guessing I have as much chance of pronouncing it right as a Southerner has of getting Pullalyp.

In American, of course it is BOSS-ee-ur. In french, to the best of my recollection, it would be bo-ZHUR.

To those wacky cajuns, who can say? ;-)

another vote for Boss-ee-yay, although I could see "Bo-zhur" too.

You should try the city where LSMSA is located for real fun.

I love how the city out side of Lake Charles is called "Eye-o-way" instead of "Iowa" like it's spelled.

From: [identity profile] herbaliser.livejournal.com
yeah, it took me two months to pronounce it right
