So I just wanted to clear up to anyone who may have been confused by my post yesterday that I'm not actually a pagan. I just think that the shortest-day-of-the-year thing is more interesting than fake-jesus-birthday. Of course we know that the days are going to get longer again, observable phenomena and all, so the pagan shit isn't as cool. I mean, sure, the orgies are great, but it's not like the sun won't come up if you don't spend all night eating and drinking and fucking. Although, again, that's a lot more fun than exchanging gifts with your family and watching Uncle Rory make an ass out of himself.

But whatever, I'm going to be hanging out with a bunch of Jews at a Chinese restaurant.

2003: Jew Xmas, Chinese food and Return of the King. We took too much Ativan and went to see Big Fish but I fell asleep during. Reg bought me a slutty top, my mom gave me a big check that I used to buy skis.
2002: Jew Xmas, Steve's sis was here and it was a snowy white xmas, ahem ahem. I had a huge Diet Coke during The Two Towers and was fiddly and jumpy and had to pee a lot.
2001: Xmas with Nick, I saw Fellowship and got a flat tire. He and I did little but his parents took us to Mazama for cross-country skiing the next week.
2000: Nick and I visited my fam, and I haven't seen them since.
1999: I was still in school and on the verge of breaking up with Nick due to severe PMS and slight cheating. Anyway I saw a metric shit-ton of movies, got a job and we didn't break up.
1998: First xmas I didn't spend with my family; instead I flew to Tokyo to hang out with Nick's family.

holidays are kinda funny to begin with. Its not like people dont want to eat and drink and fuck all night all the time anyway, but if they do that nothing ever gets done. so its all relegated to a few special days of the year that supposedly have some signifigance.

Dammit, here's one Jew who you made nostalgic with this post, coz I never get to spend Xmas like that anymore. My wife's remaining concession to Yeshke is going home to Long Island for a weeklong orgy of cooking, and we end up there for the whole thing. And it's hard to explain that potlatch is very interesting and all, but it's really more fun to just get Chinese food and see a movie. But every year we end up the same way.
