Did your parents get a real tree or did you have a fake tree growing up? Me, we got real trees maybe three times, but only after one of the fake trees broke. We got a replacement a few years later, though. So that counts as "fake."

We did that one or two years, only we didn't get the permit. just wandered into the woods next to our house and dragged a tree back.

we had a fake tree for a while until my cat at the time peed on it. then we got real ones for a couple years but soon switched back to fake after we got sick of picking up the needles.

We tried having a real tree one year but my dog became "confused" by it. There's a tree in here now? OMG, the dining room counts as "outside!" Fake trees seemed to solve the indoor urination issue.

We used to steal trees off weyerhouser land. We figured the tree deserved a better death. It was kind of a good time. We would drive up into the hills, locate a tree, tie it to the car and then drive really really fast off of the land.

Real, for two reasons.

1. Living in a state where the real trees grow, it was cheaper to get many years of real than one fake.

2. No room to store a fake.

Not only was it real, but being Finnish, we put real candles with real fire on it instead of just lights. Soooo pretty.
