So Friday I hastily budgeted and came up with +1, along with a bit on the credit card. Bought Mono tix and ate bread and cheese for dinner. Reg and I hit up Ashley (classic)'s boyfriend's housewarming (Kriston) which at first, you know, sucked, but eventually enough people we knew were there, and enough liquor was consumed, that a good time began to be had by all.

We invited a few people back to my place for afterhours enjoyment. Ended up watching Heathers till 6am or so, and finally kicked everyone out at 8am. Slept all day and missed EndFest, oh the fuck well. Gorditos for dinner and all that food made me sleepy as hell, so I don't really know what happened after that. I think Reg watched Sparta, I tried to listen but no dice.

As for myself, I watched Season 2 of AbFab and read Reg's copy of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Really really interesting book, I had odd dreams about magicians and Byron as a result. (And I want to get back onto my project now.) Basically it's about "magicians" in England who are merely theoretical, until Mr. Norrell shows up actually practicing it, and then another man, Jonathan Strange, does likewise. Norrell fucks up trying to make his name known, and a bunch of people's lives go bad, and it's up to Strange to fix it, by GOING MAD. Really.

And Sunday we watched Hidalgo, which reminded me of The Last Samurai but nowhere near as pretentious. Besides, it was about horsies. I'm always amused by these East Vs. West epics, because one culture always comes out on top. In tLS of course Japanese culture was superior, but in this modern-ish Lawrence of Arabia THE WEST WAS WON. Or something. I dunno. HORSIES.

i didn't get a specific "side" out of hidalgo, actually. i thought the message was more than a little aimless. so... if your horse, like, really wants to win a race, and is magical and comes back from the brink of death by himself... then... the native americans can finally rest at peace? i dunno. too disjointed. maybe i shouldn't drink when i watch movies anymore.

i so need to see Heathers. i've seen bits and pieces, but i heard that it's, pardon the expression, 'wicked cool', in its entirety.

Do you mean Spartan (David Mamet's latest movie)? If so, rock'nitude.

As every single LJ photo of mine indicates, I'm a real big fan of that movie.
