five year track back
Jul. 19th, 2004 01:18 pm20 years ago I was:
* worried about not believing in god
* best friends with a girl who lived down the street
* listening to nothing but Weird Al Yankovic and Phil Collins
* playing D&D with my brother as DM
15 years ago I was:
* dealing with my first periods
* friends with the only black girl on the honor roll
* listening to lots of Def Leppard and Helloween
* initiated into the church youth group, every wednesday my older brother and I would drive up to church
* worshipping the older brother
* reading his GURPS books
10 years ago I was:
* barely coping with my first breakup, and subsequent reconciliation
* about to be a senior
* working my summer job at the local library, and staying at my grandmother's till my mother got home from grad school
* getting CDs from BMG by the Cure, New Order, Depeche Mode and the Pet Shop Boys
5 years ago I was:
* running up a five grand credit card debt
* freaking out about living alone for the first time um, ever
* visiting my boyfriend in Seattle once every month
* going back to Durham every weekend to see the only people I still knew
* listening to lots of shitty ass techno and going to rave parties sober
* downloading mp3s over dialup in Linux Napster
2 years ago I was:
* spending money thanks to the only "real" job I've had in Seattle
* living the good life with
candid,
hotcrab, and
corn_e
* visiting
hfloyd in Boston
* scared about the end of summer
* listening to a buttload of KEXP indie rock and skanking out at the Contour
* doing very little in the way of drugs
* worried about not believing in god
* best friends with a girl who lived down the street
* listening to nothing but Weird Al Yankovic and Phil Collins

Date: 2004-07-20 09:17 pm (UTC)I wasn't being literal
Date: 2004-07-20 09:20 pm (UTC)as a side note, but not unrelated, I was also a hideously devoted weird al fan for years -- I've still got most of his albums on tape in a box somewhere (and I saw UHF a couple of days ago).
it was for the benefit of the viewers at home
