bug spray, wet wipes, ziplick bags of varying sizes, matches, a lighter or two, extra socks, kindling, sunscreen, sunglasses, sleeping bag, pillow, stakes&hammer/mallet, marshamallows and skewers (and whatever else you want like graham crackers and chocolate etc), walking talkies, extra shoes, a hat, trail mix, a good cooler, a portable grill/stove, utencils, plates, towels, water bottles, a light jacket (?), 2-3 gallons water (to wash your dishes), a pillow or 2
bring enough padding (like blankets or pillows, but preferably an air mattress if you have one) to put under your sleeping bag so you're actually comfortable at night. One blanket under your bag won't cut it. This is the most important thing of all!
Also a flashlight you don't have to share with anyone.
trash bags, paper towels and a washcloth (staying clean outdoors is hard), ziplock bags if you're taking any food that's not single serving, a GOOD sleeping bag and a cheap waffle foam sleep pad (far better and more covenient than any inflatable), lots of water, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses/hat, extra socks & underwear, a set of real eating utensils (plastic sucks).
that's all you should need if you're not in charge of cooking or shelter.
if you're going to cook, a cast iron skillet if youre going to do it on a campfire, a coffee pot, and some good coffee. if you cant have a fire a MSR stove is good. i'm a big fan of single wall tents and the eureka exo 3 is my current cheap fave.
all you need is a tent, booze and another body to steal heat from. this of course will likely lead to sex. this also happens to be the final ingredient needed for a successful camping trip.
Water bottles Sleeping bag (get a fancy comfy one) Mosquito repellent (if you don't like the bugs) Matches Lighter Granola bars Ear Plugs Band-Aids w/antibiotic ointment Toothbrush/toothpaste Toilet paper (if ya don't like using leaves) Many extra socks A hat Liquid soap (tape the lid shut, though) Painkillers Sex supplies
