You know, if any guy I was dating seriously actually fucking called up my father to ask his fucking permission to marry me, I'd totally have to pawn the ring.
to "ask permission" would not be cool. but to call the parent/s and just let them know might be sort of ok. i'm also kind of weirded out by wedding invitations with the bride and groom's parents' names on them.
