- So apparently it's possible for that reflective surface on top of CDs to peel off. And then, they don't work anymore. Who knew?

+ I made a spot trip to: the bank, the gas station, and Wendy's. At the gas station I got another 2fer1 ski thing (I am so taking next wed off ifn I get my income tax refund), at Wendy's I got nuggets, fries, and a diet Coke. I asked "What's the biggest drink size you have?" and the lady plopped the Biggie in front of me. It's 32oz of caffeine, carbonation, caramel color and ice. And nutrasweet. I wonder if my antsy-ness isn't a direct result of a lack of aspartame? It's one idea.

= The lady at Wendy's who waited on us was, well, utterly cute. She reminded us totally of an elementary school teacher who much prefered the instant gratification of waiting on hungry fat slobs to dealing with snotfaced crotchfruit.

snotfaced crotchfruit

I love the term. Works for me. I've used the more euphemistic "spawn" (as differentiated from the occasional well-disciplined "child" that comes from "parents" instead "breeders," or "human broodmare & stud"). I mean, some kids don't get me all weirded out and disgusted.

Though you might want to add "shrieking" before "snotfaced," as the worst of them are shrilly yelling while thundering about wildly, like feral children who know the language and wear clothes.

I've got a couple cds i've burned and the top side has flaked off... making great parts of the CD unusable. Who knew, indeed.

Whaddaya know, I always thought that the reflective surface is only there to prevent scratches to the real data thing but maybe not. Or maybe it is and both things happened, the reflective coating peeled off, and the CD got scratched.....

I've only had writable and rewritable cd's flake on me. I don't think it's possible from non-burnable cds. I think their reflective coating is behind plastic--which is why they are harder to scratch and last longer. Not to mention that they are stamped instead of inky/dyed stuff.

Data on a CD is actually stored near the top of it. That's why taking a key to the top of a CD will trash it forever, but you can buff scratches out of the bottom just fine.
