1. How did your parents meet?

They met on the Fourth of July (born on the bayou and all) in Lafayette, LA, through a chance meeting, my dad and some friends were road tripping and met up with one of my mom's friends. They didn't really make an impression on each other at that point.

2. How did they actually "get together"?

A few months later, my dad's mother was out of town and he threw a party at her house. My mom and dad ended up on the roof watching the stars, smoking out and talking all night.

3. What led to the marriage?

After dating for a while, they were at a Canned Heat concert, my dad turned to my mom and said "Hey, let's get married," and my mom, apparently stoned out of her gourd, said "OK!" They drove to the Jefferson Parish courthouse where my dad's mother was working, and so she was the witness.

4. Did they wait a while before having kids? How many did they end up with?

My parents got married and wanted to have kids immediately, but it took three years before my older brother was born. Four years later I turned up, two years later brother number 2, three years later number 3, and finally when I was ten, I got a sister.

5. Are they still together? Why/why not?

Still together, although I assume only for religious reasons. They haven't gotten along in years.

My parents like, did LSD constantly before they were visited by the nice boys in suits and nametags. And then they did LDS. HA!

My parents were 20-something biker-types in the 70's, so you can draw your own conclusions about their proclivities. My dad was in a confessional mood one night a couple years ago and told me about going to a Pink Floyd concert where he remembered arriving at the venue and leaving the venue, but nothing in between.

Bob Hite, the lead guy from Canned Heat, was my cousin. In a sense, you owe me your existence. I know, the "gift" of existence is like a kick in the teeth. You can thank me later.
