Saw Sorry and Tilted Blue last night at the EMP. One of steve's coworkers is in the latter, which didn't pull me in the same as the former, but their good songs were really good. Anyways. It was at the Liquid Lounge, which always has a slightly weird vibe. I don't want to say it's because it's nonsmoking, but Tost likewise has a weird vibe (though not as weird).
Last night the weirdness was probably due to the semi-indie-rock viberooni. First of all it was mostly couples, secondly it was mostly friends of the bands (like us, ha ha ha). And as Steve said, "a little Phishy in here." Seattle is lousy with guys who like camping and the outdoors and whatnot, and I suppose it makes sense that those people would stick around nonsmoking bars. I did like that my shirt didn't stink the next day but apart from that, meh. Even the band seemed like they were people who were cool ten years ago. I dunno.
Also I really don't like being forced to socialize with Microsoft people. I mean you know, some of my best friends work at Microsoft, but really in general they just give me the wig. I don't work there so I shouldn't have to be forced to socialize with them, right? Fortunately there was none of that last night. I cringed when I first got there, the fear of actually having to talk to people taking me over, but Steve wasn't feeling so social either, so it was all good. We left early.
