a couple of overheards:

"A request for Olson and Chan with no first names? That's like the Smith and Jones of Seattle!"

"I think I may have to switch from blow to Valium."

"I love you man, but put some goddamned pants on."

"Six hours? You're not allowed to rent here anymore."

"If not sooner."

Fairly interesting weekend, at any rate. Mostly just mellow hanging-out-stuff, which totally works for me. Fell asleep during Gone With the Wind, saw Amelie again, and of course Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I still wouldn't watch that show without Steve, but on the other hand I kind of feel that way about Friends now too.

I went to a friend of a friend's parents' place on the other side of Tacoma, overlooking the bay, beaches and a lighthouse, kind of thing. Gorgeous view (Tacoma looks nicer from far away I guess) and really nice and quiet. I appreciated getting away for the day/night and all. I need to do this more often. I utterly love road trips - getting there is really 25% of the fun - but I don't really have a crowd to do that with so much.

And then after getting home yesterday, I went to SunDazed and saw, well, everyone I hadn't seen Saturday because I was gone. But had seen Friday. Although, as [livejournal.com profile] endquote pointed out, it's nice to see them all sober and in the daylight. It got a little too cold for my thin blood, though, so I went home after [livejournal.com profile] terso's set more or less.

I have no idea what's going on this week, so I suspect "not much" is the answer. Am debating going to Portland this weekend.

Am debating going to Portland this weekend.

can i join the debate? i'll argue pro.

Quigley's New Revised Dictionary defines "going to Portland" as "one of the coolest things to do with a weekend". My first contention is that you should come to Portland, because by definition it would be cool. My second is that, conversely, not coming to Portland wouldn't be cool.

rebuttal?

hm. gas prices are at 1.85 here. It's over 300 miles to portland, which is about 25 gallons of gas.

(1) No way Portland is 300 miles from Seattle.
(2) Unless you mean round-trip, in which case your car gets 12 MPG?

oops, yes

It's like 3 hours is what I meant. Although my lousy car does seem to get 12 in the city.
