50 random things part II
Aug. 22nd, 2003 01:37 pm- I'm not afraid of spiders, ants, or cockroaches, but weird evil looking potato bugs and the like freak me out.
- I have about five scars on my body. Three from being bit by a dog (age ten), one from my mother accidentally catching her fingernail on my face (seven or so), and one from using a knife instead of scissors last summer. The first was the only time I ever had to go to the hospital.
- As a child I used to get chronic headaches like crazy. I never made the connection between them and the fading vision in my right eye, however.
- My longest "relationship" was 5 years; shortest was two weeks.
- I think cheating is crazy, but only because the standard boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance/spouse definitions are too restricting.
- I find most chocolate ice cream tastes like ass. I used to make my own by mixing hershey's syrup and vanilla ice cream and whipped cream together. Man that was good shit.
- Most food tastes remarkably bland to me.
- I had the same roommate in college for four years. We were basically best friends. My best friend now is my houstemate Steve.
- I went to a boarding school 11th and 12th grades, had a different roommate each year, and neither of them liked me very much at all. Funny how things change.
- The other person I've shared a space with is the aforementioned 5-year guy. Also, freshman year of college, there was a third roommate. She was evil.
- In the beginning of eleventh grade I wanted to major in English; by the time I started twelfth I knew I was going to be Computer Science. During my freshman year I wavered on this again many times, but stuck it out in the end.
- The first time I touched a computer was in second grade, we borrowed an old one from some friends of my parents.
- The first story I wrote and published was for the young writer's competition in fourth grade. I stole most of the plot from a Defenders comic.
- I made copies of all of my older brother's tapes and records till I was in high school. The first bit of music I bought for myself was the Cure's Mixed Up.
- I've been downloading MP3s since 1997. First one I was a party to downloading was Human League's "Don't You Want Me Baby". (Although actually the oldest timestamp I have is Feb. 1997, Pink Floyd, "Wish You Were Here."
- Oddly enough this was also the first song I ever sang a karaoke duet to.
- I played clarinet in fifth grade. I cannot read music at all. In church choir I just would listen for the melody.
- I haven't been to church since 1996. I only regret that it took me that long.
- I used to confuse Blondie and Concrete Blonde.
- I've been to DC five times. This is the most I've ever been somewhere I didn't live relatively close to, aside from New Orleans, where my father's family lives.
- I never went outside in the sun as a child and consequently a) never tanned and b) never sunburnt. I think I was 13 when I got my first sunburn.
- My brothers and I used to make up our own episodes of Transformers, Thundercats, Gummi Bears and GI Joe, then act them out, with or without action figures.
- The first fanfiction I ever wrote was a teleplay for Ducktales.
- I had never been west of Houston until I came to Seattle for the first time (summer of 1998).
- I had never been north of DC before a 9-hour layover in New York (august 2000).
