I sort of want to use baby powder to absorb my sweat and lounge around sipping iced tea and listening to the victrola, except, um, I'm not actually a character in a Tennessee Williams play (or To Kill a Mockingbird). Actually I'm thinking of either goofing off at the beach, or driving as far as I can get on my half a tank of gas...

*waves a fan* My my, I do declare, it's so hot.

Actually it's pretty nice here in Michigan, probably in the 70's or low 80's.

Oog, I know what you mean. I want to escape this hellish box that I live in, maybe get a sunburn at Greenlake or do some people-watching somewhere air-conditioned. I don't have the luxury of going somewhere on half a tank of gas... if I did, I know a certain semi-private swimming hole in the Snoqualmie river that would get a visit.

In two months I should be well moved into whereever I'm going to live--it'll be a studio or a one bedroom near campus, probably.

The idea of spreading baby powder on my body doesn't automatically sound appealing. It seems odd. But I guess it would make sense that it would absorb sweat. And yet, sweat is the body's cooling mechanism, so wouldn't it make you hotter in the long run?

(well, especially hotter were someone rubbing baby powder on you, but a different sort of hot)

sweat only cools you if it evaporates. Without A/C or fans (or lack of humidity) it doesn't really work.
