So I went to the BRMC show at Graceland last night. I didn't expect to see anyone I knew there, since I run in guitar-less crowds mainly. But lo and behold,
iamdonte was there, sweating away with the rest of us.
Mainly it was a lot of couples. Now, I know some couples, since most of the sane girls I know are in relationships, but Damn. I guess I go to too many meat markets or something, it was like 90% guys with their girlfriends. There was one dude standing next to me who was all over this hot skinny tall blond girl - but she was bored out of her mind and he was rawkin' the fuck out. As was I. I was tempted, one of the times she was in the bathroom, to say something about that, but well, I didn't. I mean she was quite attractive and she's probably adumb nice girl, but he just dragged her there clearly. I guess I can't really say anything about that, I dragged a few boys to a few shows despite their lack of interest in my day. But she was just such a trophy girlfriend it wasn't even funny.
The show was on the good side, although as it was a freakin' Sauna in teh Graceland I don't know how they could have made it great. But the audience - I dunno if they were just being Seattle-ites or if it was too damn hot, they were just standing there half of them. I fucking hate that. Maybe I'm spoiled from the Triangle, but audiences there would always really get into whomever was playing and dance and jump around and shit. Especially if it was packed. If it was only half-full people were shy, but if it was packed? Hell Yes.
Anyway the band didn't rock as hard as I thought they would, but they didn't play lick for lick from the album either. Also helping was the fact that half the set was new songs, so you couldn't tell if they were or not. Heh. But it was just so damn hot that I left in the middle of their encore. I immediately froze when I walked outside, as it's about 55 at night here. Tried to meet up with Steve but he was Just Leaving, so I went home too.
On the way home, however, I was thrust headfirst into the phenomenon commonly referred to as "the Tuesday Blues." I just felt purely despondant and had trouble driving home; I'm sure if there were any other cars on the road I would have been fucked. Immediately upon getting home I had two 5-HTP pills and a glass of water. It took about twenty minutes or so for it to kick in, and the change was palpable. I mean I was literally crying in bed when all of a sudden I felt totally fine. Actually was laughing at how quick it changed as I fell asleep.
