Maze of Death

Definitely one of the worst PKD books I've read, but still decent, especially with the ending. Ending made up for a lot. Not sure if the whole rest of it made up for it, but possibly. I really enjoyed the double-twist, though. And I can say no more.
Highlight to read: Basically the whole group of people is sent to this "colony", Delmak-O, and are not told why. And the group begins dying, one at a time. It's finally revealed that they're actually insane inmates in an Earth Asylum, and the fact that they keep killing each other is proof of their psychopathy. But that's not actually the truth either. Whee.

O

Wanted to see this for ages, finally sat down and got to it. It's the remake of Othello, with Julia Stiles and Josh Hartnett (regrettably as Iago/Hugo). It wasn't bad, but the Branaugh version was of course far superior. I don't think it's that great of a play/plot, though, so you gotta deal with that anyway. Also, I'm not all that crazy about basketball, so that bit was blah. However the sex scene was tight. Off the hook. And I realize I'm twisted, since it ended up turning to rape more or less, but it was just sexy as hell aside from that. Or maybe because of that. Haha. Christ I need to get laid.

I also attempted to watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, but oh well.

I recently picked up a bunch of boxes from my dad's house from when I moved with them -- in 1999. One box was nothing but PKD books, around 30 of them. I've linked you to R. Crumb's comic about PKD before, right?

Did the box by any chance have the two rarest of all Dick books, "The Man Whose Teeth Were All Exactly Alike" and "Ubik: The Screenplay?" Those two titles sell for many, many greenbacks. And, damn it, I've never seen either one in person, much less had the chance to read them.

No, but some kid's books which are hard to come by ... whole bunch of stuff. I know there's no screenplays in there though. TMWTWAEA might be in there, though. Thanks for the tip.

Completely new to me: apparently there's been a Weirdo-#17-sized hole in my knowledge of both Crumb and Horselover Fats. Found it to be more than a little moving, which usually not my response to the middle Crumb's stuff. Many thanks.

Phil should have titled that book Maze Of Shit. Just a teenager level collection of violent short stories masquerading as a book. Bleh.

In other PKD news I finally located a copy of In Milton Lumky Territory and read it. I was generally impressed. As for Phil's non-sci-fi work it is second only to Confessions Of A Crap Artist, and perhaps even better in some ways.

Have you read any of Phil's non-sci-fi novels?
