* I think "sexxxy" is going to be my new favorite word. Triple-X sexy. There was a porn store back in Durham that we called "The Triple-X Railroad" because, well, it had a big XXX sign above it, and it was right by the railroad tracks. I don't have any clue what its real name was.

* I realized today that until I started going to nerd school I was really not much of a snob at all. Only one of my friends was in the honor classes with me, and she was still nowhere near the level of, well, anyone I now associate with. It was easy at LSMSA and Duke to associate with 99th percentile chaps. It's a little trickier now, but I still try to do it. Obviously this is just rough estimate, how bright they come across, whatever, but you kind of can tell these things.

* I fucking love the pet shop boys. "gods" as a friend once said.

there was a time when I looked down on anyone who didn't have a .95 after their 99, but these days, I'll take a good heart over a good mind any day of the week.

You have just really surprised me. I worked at Railroad Vid for a short time. I don't know why, but I had no idea you used to live near here.

I was the nightshift assistant manager. Mainly that meant keeping tabs on how many people were in the private viewing booths and for how long, and making sure guys didn't go into the same booth together, and cleaning up after they left. Pushing the jizz mop turned out to not be a long term career goal for me.

And I am not kidding.

At one point when the Starlite Drive-Inn was shut down I wanted to buy it. Not to show porn movies, but to show cult films. They are very cheap to rent or even purchase in 16mm format. It's probably very fortunate for me that I was not able to follow through on that whim.

No W-2 form or other written documentation of employment. Just payment in cash without taxes deducted. I never did find out why they ran the place that way.

Yeah, I went to Duke and then worked in Raleigh (visiting my friends at Duke on the weekends) from '95 to early 2001.

I love the Duke campus! I also like the campus at State despite it being a polar opposite architecturally.

I've lived in the area since '86, except for one year I lived in Memphis and part of a year I spent traveling. I'm ready to move.
