Date: 2003-03-25 12:32 pm (UTC)That shit drives me nuts, evoking the rampant Peter Pan complexes that seem to characterize the vast majority of homosexuals. I cannot stand being referred to as 'a boy.' I guess I should just be thankful that you are not substituting an 'i' for the 'y.'
Strangely, I cannot do either (i.e. refer to adult males as 'boys' or 'men') comfortably. When I think of 'boys,' I think of skinny, awkward kids just past puberty with glabrous testicles and poor bathing habits. When I think of 'men,' I inevitably think of males who evoke no sexual interest from me (such as most of my coworkers). I end up having to just refer to the rest as 'guys.' I am dating a guy from Ohio. Were I dating 'a boy,' I would be robbing the cradle. Were I dating 'a man,' he would be. Sort of.
Of course, all of this becomes more problematic with women, whom I mostly chauvinistically refer to as 'girls' because the feminine form of 'guy' makes me sound like a yokel.
"guys." I thought you were from Virginia.

Date: 2003-03-25 04:14 pm (UTC)If you're jonesing for Dick after this last and you've already read all the books, you might want to pick up some Jeff Noon (Vurt comes to mind) not as good but in a similar vein and pretty good still.
