"to read makes our speaking English good"
Dec. 13th, 2002 12:18 amI've been reading
heraclitus from start to finish for the past week or so. Fascinating stuff. I mean he's clearly crazy verging on insane, but he's also brilliant. Now when I say "crazy" I mean, well, you know. Basically being crazy means someone sees the world differently than you do, and being insane means you see it so differently than society does that you're not quite able to function. So I see people who are religious as being crazy, but only fantatics as being insane.
Anyway his incessant ranting about books and such inspires me to go fucking finish my library books already. On the other hand reading his journal psyches me up in a way that makes me want to read more just to get more psyched up. It's rather like reading erotic literature or watching a softcore porn, where you're torn between reading/watching more to get more turned on versus stopping and getting off already. But I think I've reached the point, and I'll now go read till I fall asleep.

Date: 2002-12-13 12:20 pm (UTC)I think John Bell is yer typical very smart, libertarian contrarian man, except at the moment he's in embryonic form, so it's kind of weird.
If you're reading this JohnBell, hi!
Notice I have a campaign to "normalize" you. Whyever, I do not know.
