So I was talking with one of the Romanians about Catwoman, and he mentioned that she once had a stalker. And not only she, but many other women he knew, had had stalkers. He actually claimed that "every woman" he knew had had a stalker, and I was rather quick to point out that I never had.

How come I never had any stalkers? Well, first of all I think it's because I'm always more interested than the guy is. But even more than that, I kept saying "These girls need to learn how to say fuck off and die if they want a guy to leave them alone." And FS said "I can just see you saying that." But truth of the matter is, I never did. I've never had it said to me either, because I can take slightly less subtle hints. But I know that a lot of people can't, so you need to be more direct. And so I said this.

But still, never really explained why I didn't even have stalkers in the first place. So then talking to Jim, of course, brought in another point of view.
"It's about whether, if you have a stalker, you'll be pitifully standing there, quaking and telling him to go away in a tremulous little voice - or giving him the cold eye and thoughtfully contemplating same-day shotgun purchases at Wal-Mart. The latter type don't GET stalkers... I mean I never even actually STALKED you, and you successfully got me to leave you the fuck alone, back when you were in NC."

just re-read "The Collector" the other day actually.

and you strike me as the sort of woman who would fuck some obsessive-type person, just for the satisfaction of going "is that it? weak. get me a cigarette, shrinky-dink." afterwards.

It could be that girls don't stalk guys as often as they claim. The idea of a stalker is rather flattering.

Well, a stalker before is flattering in a way, but after breaking up with someone and having them stalk you, not so much. Especially since these guys often get violent when they can't have you... so I hear.

Oh, that kind of stalker. Never had one of those, only girls that wouldn't leave me alone. You would think that after a conversation that goes like this "hello" "hey. Watching a movie right now." "what is it" "dunno, but I'm gonna hang up now" that they would get the point. I like to think of these type of people as my stalkers, but really, they are just infatuated people. It could be that many stories are about similiar types of people exaggerated, and with a few misconceptions.
