I may have a job interview soon.

I'm not sure if I get the concept of staffing companies. When I first thought about moving to Seattle, a couple months after I graduated, I sent out my resume to Volt. I actually had a few phone interviews, but basically it sounded like my lack of experience was a big minus. And I decided to just get more experience before trying again...

I got my last job, miraculously, just by sending my resume to a Monster posting. They pulled me out for a technical interview, and I zoomed through it. But it seems like that was a miracle story, too good to be true (obviously since I'm unemployed now), and more often you get contracts or permajobs through these staffing companies. One of them called me Friday, another called on Saturday; I sent them both official copies of my resume and they seemed to like it. So we'll see what happens from there.

I botch every fucking technical interview. In this day and age, who needs to know programming arcana? I mean, you can look shit up in MSDN instantaneously and now they have autocompletion so you don't even need to look up parameters.

Yet, somehow, these lunatics still hire me. I think it's because I am articulate.

Or I just look really good in a suit.

actually the technical interview i had? on a computer with MSDN installed. it wasn't arcana that they wanted you to know, it was actual technique.

... it's always been stupid little shit (like "when can you delete 'this'?"). But then I get to technical managers (who actually know practically nothing) and just end up peppered with basic logic questions ("why is a manhole round?").
