I almost gave that Bill Laswell Miles-remix thing to a drummer friend as a b-day gift, but he's a purist who would have hated it, so I picked up one of the recent remastered reissues of the live concerts he did (think it was live evil or could have been one of the filmore shows).

Heh. The only reason I can stand jazz at all is because of the modern ambient jazz fusion stuff (:cough:herbaliser:cough:). That, and watching Sweet and Lowdown, after which I immediately bought a Django record. Er, CD. I really do like jazz guitar but a lot of the stuff is too "smooth" for my tastes, at least the post WW2 stuff. White people ruined it, man.

(The sad thing is, one of my good friends (http://www.livejournal.com/~vileinfestation) is an amazing jazz/blues pianist. He was kind enough never to force anything on me, though. Except Coltrane, but that's just because I once asked him about the soprano sax.)
