Last night's Buffy was great. I may be in the minority, but I've liked all but like, one episode since the move to UPN last year. James Marsters continues to blow me away, every moment he's Spiking onscreen. They said they were going to make this season feel more like season one, and I think they're working it well so far, along with a bit of a more adult feel. It's all good.

Plus Secretary the other day, and then Lawrence of Arabia today. I've never seen it so I was totally psyched, and it was great. Didn't even feel all that much like four hours. I suppose you could compare it to Apocalypse Now, except, well, with actual shit happening to cause the man's downfall rather than just the journey fucking with his head. (OK, so I fell asleep during that one. Sue me, it was late at night.) Although one problem I had was with all the blue-eyed British actors portraying Arabs.

I was rather happy with whoever makes the decisions at the Cinerama to show a movie about Arabian independence in today's political climate, though. I mean the movie is basically about a traitor to the white Christians helping the Arabs unite in a common cause against them, ya know?

Oh, almost forgot - also watched A.I. again yesterday. I liked it muchly the first time, and I liked it even more this time. Even the ending wasn't as bad as I thought. At least he does get screwed, after all. Not like Tom Cruise in Minority Report. Well, OK, he marries that bitch again, so maybe he does.

I told you, the blue-eyed men in the desert were clearly Fremen as in Dune. :-)

A.I. was so awful. So, unspeakably, awful. The only saving grace is Jude Law as the pimpbot.

He wasn't really a pimpbot. Anyway there was some really pretty shots in it and um... "it's a character study!" As steve asked when I was watching it, "Is there ANYONE in this movie who isn't completely fucked up?"

(But ok, if I had been able to rewrite the script it would have been much better.)

Marsters is a better actor than that Angel fellow ever was (despite the occasional loss of his British accent (which is acceptable when one is losing one's mind and hearing voices)). I just watched that episode a second time last night during dinner. The final five minutes or so are terribly intense and intensely beautiful.

I thought last season faltered a bit (Willow's magic-drug metaphor was just a little forced), but was still fantastic (better than the season with Adam and evil scientists). Regardless, the show has really been on the mark thus far.

someone had a great quote about how Boreanaz watches Marsters on Buffy then cries into the plastic breasts of his wife... I should go dig it up.

also I read that joss himself actually redid that last scene.

But you know, if I have to hear Giles ask me Willow one more time if I she wants to be punished in the Previouslies... How many times do I does she have to say "Yes please"?
