Right so I think I'm definitely gonna cut my hair an inch short next month. But then I need to color it in some way. The choices are:

1. All one color, blond
   
2. All one color, red
   
3. All one color, orange
   
4. All one color, purple
   
5. Highlights in any of the above
   

(here's a pic of me with shortish hair for reference - I think that's the shortest I've ever cut it.)

I would vote a deeper red or purple -- what about burgundy (I'm prejudiced, I realize)? Or deep red/burgundy with blonde highlights? I would stay away from blonde or orange; you're about as fair and high-contrast as I am; you'll probably look washed out with the blonde, and "off" if you go orange. A red-purple or a dark mahogany would 1. have high contrast with your skin, 2. "warm up" your skin with the red tones, and, most importantly, 3. have inherent punkiness. ;P

I've done honey-blond before to good effect; I look terrible with cool colors though (I looked like Morticia when I dyed my hair blue-black, and the red in my icon faded to magenta and also looked kinda bad).

When you said "blonde," I thought you meant light-medium blonde... Honey blonde I can see working... but orange, well... Unless you are talking citrus orange, or neon orange... (though, now that I think about it, what other orange would you really do... I guess that just shows how orange-avoidant I am). On account of my biases, though, I will still vote on the darker side... hell, go purple. Plum purple. Purple is good.
