slowin' down
Aug. 5th, 2002 02:14 pmCable sucks my life away. I watched Remo Williams and Risky Business, as well as parts of almost every Pauly Shore movie made and The Graduate. (Side note: it's obnoxiously funny to watch Risky Business with a Joel.)
I had breakfast on Saturday with the Silvers' and got to gossip a fair amount with Sharron. I don't mind hanging out with guys all the time but they are often less enthusiastic about that sort of shit than girls are, I guess. Plus I've rarely even had female friends as enthusiastic about sex as she and I are.
We took her up and down Broadway in Capitol Hill, hit the Urban Outfitters and then Espresso Vivace. There were way too many toys in UO - by which I mean not nearly enough. They were all really cool toys, though. I think I need to go back to FAO Schwartz, it's been a while.
And then I became highly caffeinated, jumping up and down while watching TV. I don't even remember what was on, as I was chattering the whole time. Eventually it started to wear off and we met the Silvers' and their friends from Portland at Marcus' for drinks. Unfortunately I hadn't eaten much dinner, so I only had a single martini and almost felt ill. But not quite. I was fairly toasted for the rest of the evening, which was just fine. The music at Marcus' was too industrial for Steve - at least in his frame of mind - so we went to Contour (of course).
In my frame of mind, and of course by force of habit, I wanted to make out and dirty dance. Fortunately Sharron was up for one of them. Not much making out on my part actually happened till after leaving, but that was OK. Mostly I watched Sharron get hit on by the Romanians - well, ok, last time she visited, one of them got her, this time, the other one did. Except he didn't get anywhere. It was all rather amusing.
Next day was supposed to be spent sailing, but bad weather forecast prevented it. The actual weather would have been nearly perfect, alas. So we went to Gasworks Park instead. I'd never been there before - only saw it in the paintball scene of 10 Things I Hate About You - and I really liked it. If any of my friends ever visited me I'd definitely take them there.
