Ever since I moved to a new office I've been thinking my monitor was a bit too low. Well, not that it was that low, since I could just lower my seat to match, but then my desk was too high. The perils of being short, I suppose... I had once attempted to prop it up via a phone book (an obsolete technology useful only for this purpose nowadays), but I couldn't get enough leverage to lift the damn thing.

On Wednesday we had a company meeting referencing "ergonomics," so I decided to try again. This time I got one of my taller and stronger officemates to help me out. Unfortunately I'm so used to the way it used to be that I've had lots of trouble adjusting. Basically since Wednesday afternoon until last night around ten, I had a headache. It ebbed and flowed thanks to outside influences (drugs, sex, fresh air, hot tub, TV) but last night around 8:15 it did me in. I napped for about an hour, woke up and thought "Dear Lord will it ever go away?" But then I must have fallen asleep again, because the next thing I knew Steve was knocking on my door to wake me up. I stood up and it didn't hurt, so I went ahead and got dressed to go out.

However, now that I'm at work I'm slightly afraid that it will return. I've never had a headache last longer than two days, though, so I'm trying to be optimistic about it.

my monitor is on a two phone book riser... though I may up it to three as I still hunch a little... the perils of being tall.

Monitor too low? Maybe your head is too high. Could you get an inch taken out of your neck?

Are you getting headaches regularly from the monitor? Perhaps it's just a sucky monitor?

my neck is pretty short actually.

No, I haven't been, and I didn't get one yesterday, either.
