quick summary
Jul. 22nd, 2002 02:23 pmsaturday: got to Boston, took the T to Cambridge with Holger while we talked, watched him eat dinner, then went out for ice cream. Of course in Cambridge there's nowhere to buy ice cream but quik-e-mart type places after 9pm, so that's what we did. And then I pleaded tiredness, but we still talked about homosexual longings for a couple of hours before sleeping.
sunday: we woke up before noon to go to his company outing. He works for an economics firm, and I find economics boring - well, at least macro, which is what his true love is - so I was a little nervous but I didn't actually have to talk to anyone about economics. I just listened to a couple of people before running off to play mini-golf and lounge in the pool. Dear lord it's hot in the East Coast. Well not so much hot as humid. I have become so spoiled in Seattle, and oh-so-far from my swampish upbringing.
After seeing The Importance of Being Earnest, we had chili for dinner - introducing Holger to the concept of Frito Pie (although it wasn't full on in the bag), and he seemed ok with it.
monday: walked around Cambridge and saw lots of nice houses. Passed out due to heat prostration upon returning (no AC at home), which ended up being a common afternoon theme...
Holger and I went to the Middle East for dinner and music, although we first hit the wrong part of the restaurant and almost had to sing karaoke. Which I couldn't do without Top Shelf Margaritas, of course, but we found the proper part and paid our cover to see the bands. I liked Caged Heat best.
tuesday: saw The Salton Sea and checked email.
vileinfestation told me a few great Italian places to hit, which we did for dinner and dessert. Totally orgasmic.
wednesday: all about Newbury Street and gawking at cute boys, really. And window shopping, and walking till I wanted to puke. Also hit JFK park.
thursday: all about doing nothing, really. I left house only to get lunch and hit Starbucks (I was homesick, dammit). After the afternoon pass-out, we all went to dinner to say bye to Michael, Holger's good friend who was moving to Atlanta.
friday: got up at 4:30 am to catch a flight to JFK airport, met the Cult, and took a car to Steve's home in Westchester. Didn't see the Clintons at all. Did see Sharon (his sister) again, and she kept asking questions about my personal life. Which was ok, I like the guy too. We slept all day though, and finally went out to Manhattan after 5pm. Three bars and a restaurant later, we came home.
saturday: party party party. Swam and talked to about six different people total, not counting those who live in Seattle. Not a bad scene though. Hopefully some of Steve's friends will eventually visit him, anyway.
sunday: met Steve's dad and flew home.
