Tom Cruise in Minority Report, that is. I have to agree. On the other hand, I didn't see it because of Tom Cruise. I saw it because of Philip K. Dick.

Not sure if I liked it right now, since I had a nightmare about it, but at the time I was pretty happy with it. Of course I would have been happier had it not had a happy ending, but my god this is spielburg we're talking about, right? At least he didn't write it, though.

And it looks like he's been watching John Woo films, too. Which is kind of amusing but also kind of cool. Except that it shouldn't have been an action movie, it should have been more like Gattaca. Or maybe there just wasn't enough action to justify it. I dunno. I should read the original now, I guess, to see how badly they fucked it up.

i agree, gattaca is a better film... i found the hand controlled video interface scenes to be really annoying to watch.

I dug it. My only major beef with it was, much like A.I., there were about two places where I thought it was about to (and, in my opinion, should have) end...only to have it continue and finally come to a conclusion with that happy ending.

**Stupid Spoiler Space** ::sigh:: I hate the internet.

I read a nifty little theory regarding that happy ending that suggested that the entire final act was all a dream that Anderton was experiencing after he was put in stasis. While being placed in his holding container the creepy jail guard says something to the effect of, "They say that sometimes you'll even experience your wildest dreams coming true". This could explain how things wrap up so nicely and how the hell Anderton's wife turned into some super spy who crafted such a plan to break Anderton out of jail and then help him "get the bad guys". Most likely this is all b.s. but it makes for some fun speculation and would make the movie a little bit stronger in my mind is Spielburg had the balls to pull something like that off.

On a related note, I think I'm forming a non-sexual man crush on Colin Farrell.

That theory is too Vanilla Sky and not enough Brazil, man.

But yes, Colin Farrell is yummy.

And it also ticked me off that he had to explain everything to the audience before he was killed. The dude shoulda just figured it out and killed him beforehand.

You would think with an actual Scooby-Doo movie in the theaters that Spielburg wouldn't have felt it necessary to make his own Scooby-Doo-esque ending for his own movie.

"and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling pre-crime cops and your annoying Pre-Cog!"

"Tommy Tommy Cruiseeee!"

i think i liked it so much because it was so varied. there were lots of different settings, lots of nice imagery and lots of interesting futuristic things to see.
