men vs women part one

So it has come to my attention that men idealize past relationships. Most men I've dated or been friends with pretty much all have fallen in love at a relatively young age, then compare every woman afterwards to "the woman." Whereas most chicks I know pretty much do the opposite - try to get a much better guy every time they date. Well, at the least, that's what I do, and I've never ever heard a girl get drunk and go on about the guy she used to looove so much whom she now hates.

Every human being is unique, and I think it is stupid to compare people to others. It's not to say I have had temptations, especially at the beginning.

yeah, my rule is to leave their past in the past and trust them until proven wrong, but sometimes it has come to bite me in my ass a few times and then i go out and be a prick to women for a while. i guess it is my juvnile way to get back at them, but in general i am a good guy once i commit to a girl.

I think it works for people of both genders. Once the annoying parts are gone, we sort of nostalgically reminisce....

Either that, or we shake our heads and wonder what on earth we were doing in that relationship :)

So essentialist. Girls do this. Boys do that. Blah. I do both and either and none, and I'm not straight, either. Oh, and I've SO done the getting drunk and going on about That Person. There are classic archetypes for this, too--aren't you forgetting the eminent Ms. Dorothy Parker? Her LIFE consisted of one boozed out night crying over the bastard she used to love.
