Last night was an orgy of Mix Taping. Although the advent of the MP3 has made that sort of thing oh-so-much easier. I do still need a program to do fades and speed-ups on MP3s to really perfect it, though. Since I went to bed early, I only made the two for my best friend, though. The rest were CDs, which is even better because it only takes ten minutes or so.

Tonight I'm actually braving my way to the city, for the first time in ages. Perhaps beforehand I'll make a Buffy Musical CD. The musical content is of course not enough to fill a CD, but I figure the other songs from Buffy that I have might do the trick.

what are speed-ups and what would you use them for?

I'm thinking of speeding a song up just a fraction, to make it say 20 seconds shorter. The reasons for this feature while making a mix tape are too obvious for me to mention.

yes. yes they are. but I still can't help but wonder if that doesn't fuck up the sound quality of the song. doesn't sound different? I think I would notice and it would bother me.

Hmmm...

... My Buffy the Musical CD is a good forty-five minutes or so (admittedly not a full CD, but adequate without marring perfection with arbitrary song additions).

Of course, I included the two introductory orchestral pieces and Dawn's ballet sequence.

I think this fact is far more embarassing than my Dungeons and Dragons obsession.

The D&D thing is worse. I downloaded the mp3s the night the musical premiered, and then redownloaded about half over the next couple of days. "THEY GOT/ THE MUSTARD/ OUT!!"

If it's actually 45 Minutes, I may make it side one of a tape instead.

MP3s...

Blech.

I sampled wav files directly from my video cassette.

... It's your funeral call. I dropped the "got the mustard out" and "there was no parking anywhere" songs when making my CD. I did, however, keep the charming near-song that Dawn sings immediately before her kidnapping.

we happy few, we buffy fans...

I do have those two - and also the ill-named "Henchman's Song," which unfortunately ends right before Spike says "Someday he'll be a real boy." Although at this point it's all moot, since I had to make someone a Valentine CD (reciprocity doncha know) so I have no more left.
