So, how does that work? I mean obviously you pay a royalty fee for a piece to be put in a movie, but then do you have to pay another amount for the piece to be put on the soundtrack? Or does the artist just get the fees directly from the soundtrack...

I've heard a lot of controversy over royalty fees for movie soundtracks lately, and I noted that The Royal Tenenbaums official soundtrack doesn't have a single Rolling Stones song on it. Aged bastards. Well, they're missing out, since I can just download the songs from the 'net...
