• I started writing a slash fic inspired by Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality. Well, loosely inspired, as it takes place in a rather alternate universe where the Marauders probably weren't even Animagi. But anyway, I started it in December and finished it last week and posted it on FF.net. It's not great or anything, but it's readable and a couple of people have Favorited it. I've also been inspired by MYSELF ha ha, to write more of them. Although they will probably be more het, as I'm still not sure I can write a convincing slash sex scene.
• Randomly reading stuff to help me write the slash sex scene, I came across a Due South fan fic (last season stuff, when it apparently restarted in 1997) with some decent BJs and whatnot. A lot of people have complaints that slash is too girly, and this one was surely not. Anyway, it inspired me to rewatch the show. Got through episode 5 of season One. Damn, was Paul Gross a hottie. He's still pretty good looking for a fifty-something.
• In other news, it snowed yesterday but it's now 45F, so all the prettiness is gone into nasty slush. Reg was highly disappointed, as if the temperature had stayed frozen he could have skipped school. Apparently this is the first year the school is using this curriculum, and it's waaay too fast-paced, and the teacher just goes by it instead of looking at what the students are doing/capable of. Reg isn't the only person to be behind, by a long shot.

Date: 2011-01-12 08:33 pm (UTC)i highly recommend Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft if you're interested in improving as a writer. although writing fiction isn't for me personally, it has proven invaluable in understanding the craft and has given me a discerning eye when i read fiction, which i didn't do before the course but i enjoy it immensely more after the fact. there are also some great short stories in that book to demonstrate the various components of fiction writing.
