I ride the bus to work through the U-District, which means mostly younger people. And chavs.

skipbreakfast asked me what made these dudes chavs, and I said they were in backwards caps and wifebeaters in public, occasionally singing on the back of the bus. Last week another one of these guys got on the bus, near Roosevelt, with about 50 other people. He got in at the last set of doors, and instead of standing in the crowd, chose to sit on the guard railing. He perched up there while talking loudly to his buddy about picking up dime bags for the weekend and shit.

Soon enough the crowd thinned enough for him to take a seat at the very back of the bus, still almost yelling on his cell about the weekend. I was about four rows ahead, and the girl one row ahead - an obvious college student with big doe eyes and gorgeous hair - asked him if he could keep it down a little, as she could hear him over her headphones. "Oh, am I BOTHERING you?" he asked, all sarcastic, and started talking about his shitty day. "We all have bad days, man, I work all day then I go to school at night," she countered. He then began complaining about how his bus transfer wouldn't be valid on this bus after ten more minutes. "THEN BUY A PASS!" she shrieked. Other people began speaking up in her defense, trying to get him to just quiet down. I joined in the chorus, saying "No one wants to fucking hear you!"

After all that he calmed down, and sincerely apologized, and complimented her eyes. She got off the bus soon after, and he called his friend right back up. And then, and then, he bitched out his friend for "making him yell" and embarrassing himself in front of a pretty girl. I exchanged eyerolls one more time with the guy ahead of me, we'd been doing so the whole time.
