quack quack
Mar. 19th, 2010 10:29 amI checked out Clean from the library, I'm not sure why, and skimmed through it last night. I skipped a lot of the frou-frou newagery, and tried to focus on stuff that wasn't just written down because it SOUNDS true. Basically the entire planet is toxic because of humans blah blah blah, and the yin/yang MUCUS is bad. When he stuck to science - like, the large intestine produces over half the body's serotonin, and it's ok to take Prozac sometimes - it was ok. But really it just felt like a big advertisement for his supplements and shit. (SPEAKING OF SHIT, you are supposed to shit after EVERY MEAL. No kidding.)
Anyway like most books of this nature, it had some points I could agree with and many I couldn't. In general the whole toxic-fast thing strikes me as bullshit, but I am inclined to believe that I could eat better. And he also was anti-carbs, which I'm all down with. It's amazingly true that if you do South Beach or Atkins for a month, you no longer desire bread/pasta. Ultimately his Clean Program is not something I can handle right now, but I'm not completely averse to the idea of eating lots of smoothies instead of food for a couple weeks at some point.
