I got Reg a 500GB drive for xmas last year, and it failed almost exactly one year later. So he got himself a Seagate 1TB drive at OfficeMax, and it seems to have failed this morning. It was being cranky last night, so we panicked and looked around the net for options. He probably shouldn't have been keeping 950GB of stuff on that drive, but I think it's reasonable to expect these things to last at least 6 months rather than two. Anyway that occupied most of yesterday evening after dinner. What a royal pain in the ass.

Aren't there 1 year manufacturer warrantees for such things involving obscure forms on the web that will have them send you a new one?
