Apparently the post-irony thing has caught up with "dancing at warehouses," at least in the PNW, and the cool kids are going out and calling it "raving" again. Even drug-free, which is the way to be or something. Diet Red Bull is not a drug. So yeah. Saturday I went to Re-Bar where there was some loud detroit techno shit going down, then headed to TRUST, at the Artificial Limb Company space. As soon as I got to the dancefloor I was like OMFG I CAUGHT THE PLUR. It's not enough to have good music, although that definitely helps. But you must also have the small sweaty space crammed with ravers who are capable of dancing without bumping into people. (This, btw, is a skill that 99% of people at any other show do not have, and I have therefore started elbowing people at these shows in question.)

So yeah. Good times. Something else that was lacking in my life last year that I will absolutely work on.

I miss raves. But I don't think I'd go now, I'd feel like grandpa walking around a sea of kids. I can't even take Ecstasy--- stupid Effexor I take blocks its effect! Bah. Obviously, age has overtaken me.

The last rave I went to was in 2000. A decade ago! I'd like to be 26 again, please. :)

I consider parties that cost $15+ and have multiple rooms with differing DJs to be "raves" even though I guess the 21+ thing makes it different. NYE two years ago was that sort of thing. The last one I went to that was all ages was Rabbit in the Moon, but that was merely one artist at a time. Before that I guess it was the first time I saw Infected Mushroom, in 2002 or '03. (The second time there were only two areas for 2 djs at once.)

that night / space is very much the closest thing i've found yet to the 2006/7 monthly in the CHAC basement where i more-or-less met you (and a ton of other folks besides). good times!

The CHAC vibe was more about continuing the Deep Down Lounge vibe from 2004-2005. Heh. Both always seemed to contain the same 50 scene people or so. Which was awesome, don't get me wrong. Can you really meet new people at ETG?

huh. i suspect meeting people there is possible given the side area with tables and not too much sound along with the smoking area. no luck on that personally, but i go to dance, not to socialize ;-)

Word.

In the side area, some dude asked whom I was texting at 4am and I was like "MY BOYFRIEND." And he ran away.

I've gone to trust a lot. Guess I should've been telling everyone that it's fun. Heh

did i tell you how i told my undergrad i used to be really into techno. and she said: "in a non-ironic way? i mean we dress up and go to parties, cause we think it's funny, i didn't know people were into it." Bitch, techno's no disco! I almost threw her out of the car :)
