We watched this last night.

I still don't like Crosby/Stills/Nash/Young, or The Who, or Joan Baez, but it was still pretty fun.

And Jimi Hendrix just made my jaw drop. I mean, you know, I never saw any performances, just listened to him and had a blacklight poster and all that good shit. So, I added his 3 disc Woodstock performance to my queue.

Seriously, the guy zooms in on his hands and it's like WHAAAAAAAT. WHAT HOW DOES HE - WHOA.

And he was like, what, 25? I mean, Jesus. I mean Jesus would be envious. Hendrix is no mere son of a god, dammit.

Young wasn't there. Joan Baez has too sweet a voice to sing protest songs. The Who are god.

The Crosby Stills & Nash cover of "Woodstock" begins with the fucking sickest guitar riff since "Sweet Child of Mine." Other than that I share your skepticism.

And it's good to know, re: Jimi, that you're finally ... experienced.

i had to admit that the live version of whateverthefuck they played is better than whatever studio album my dad used to play constantly, but I have this weird prejudice against harmonizing tenors (that sing real high).

(I actually like talented tenors alone, even when they sing higher than I can, but I have a similar problem with Pink Floyd. Thankfully they have been winning me over with the awesome backing music.)

Oh, and in general I can't stand the singer/songwriter formula. I NEED NOISE DAMMIT. If I was taken back in time right now to watch Woodstock for all 3 days, I don't think I really coulda taken much of it.
