So I bought the New Balances and when I got home, Reg had just gotten out of the shower. Then Ashley and Danny stopped over and we went to King's Hardware for lunch (or so), and they went to get her tattoo worked on while we headed home. A quick detour at Blackbird and Reg bought these totally sexy low-cut black jeans that make his butt look really good. And then I loaded up my iRiver with upbeat music and attempted to run.

I used to run, way back in the day. But I stopped when it got cold and used the ellipticals till I met Reg (not because of him, just that timing), so it's been more or less three years since I really worked out. I'd sometimes stairclimb at work but whatever. Mexico in two weeks, I need to shape up. And yes I realize that I won't improve a hell of a lot in 2 weeks but I will build up endurance. I'll take the shoes to Mexico and run early and read in the quiet.

You have any good suggestions for running music? I've been needing to update my workout playlist for ages, but I need pretty fast music to run to and it's not stuff I typically listen to on a day-to-day basis.

Yeah, do you want rock or pop or techno?

rock or pop probably. Techno is ok, but I don't like the really hard core techno, but I have several techno remixes that I like to run to.

Editors - Munich
Union of Knives - Even Machines make Mistakes
Pet Shop Boys "It's a Sin" always gets me going
IMA Robot - Creeps Me Out

Brazilian Girls - anything off Talk to La Bomba
Franz Ferdinand's two albums are 89% fast dancey rock
Muse's Black Holes and Revelations is good for revving up
The Smithereens "Best Of" is very catchy

oops scratch the Union of Knives song and add Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)

ok, listened to these on i-tunes, the speed is right, but it doesn't have the driving beat I need. My current favorites to run to (at the risk of ridicule) are She Bangs, Rhythm of the Night (from Moulin Rouge), Because we Can (Moulin Rouge), Let's Get Loud (J-Lo), Zoot Suit Riot. I know that's awful poppy music (and most of it out of date), but I don't really go dancing anymore which is where I used to find the good stuff to run to.

TOXIC!

I would suggest making a Pandora station (http://www.pandora.com/) with She Bangs as the seed. Also the RUN LOLA RUN soundtrack.

(I used to do "Lit Up" by buckcherry and "Emerge" by Fischerspooner, and "L'amour a Trois" by Stereo Total.)

i think we live only blocks from each other, so if you want a running partner in the neighborhood, just let me know.

oh trust me, i'm in sad shape right now. I took a break from running and since i've returned I haven't worked too hard at it. I'm sure you'll catch up by summertime & we can hit up golden gardens!

What are the dates for Mexico again? I think Jeremy gave me then, but I'm a lazy bum when it comes to planning things.

Wait, where in Mexico are you headed in a few weeks? [livejournal.com profile] kirinqueen and I can fairly easily make the drive from SD to most points Baja or thereabouts.
