For future reference, the initial stage of a relationship is called infatuation and it's not supposed to last. The goal is to form something more stable in the beginning and let it build into something real.

really though I think I'm still infatuated with Reg but the wave crest is not what it was when we first hooked up. It's an ebb and flow that wouldn't exist if we didn't have the friendship and shit. Yeah? ok.

I think the way it's supposed to work is in cycles. The human mind isn't really capable of maintaining ANYTHING in a steady state for long periods of time, but it's perfectly capable of ebb and flow between states of infatuation-with-tinges-of-friendship and friendship-with-tinges-of-infatuation.

On the other hand, as Reg himself has oh-so-helpfully pointed out in the past, I'm maybe not the best person ever to take relationship advice from...
